Billy

Billy / M / 5Y / 36lbs / French bulldog mix / Fostered in Markdale

If Billy could sum up his life philosophy, it'd be this: it doesn't matter what we're doing, as long as we're doing it together. Couch cuddles? Perfect. Rolling around in the grass like an absolute goofball, then belly-scooching across the lawn Mission Impossible style? Also perfect. This guy has range.

Billy is fully house trained and such a polite communicator — if he needs to go out, he'll simply sit in front of you and let out one quiet little woof. He's crate trained too, and while he's not exactly thrilled about being shut in, he'll settle with a small amount of attitude (just be ready for the guilt-trip stare of the century). He's also proven he can be trusted to free-roam the house for up to 3.5 hours with zero issues — no chewing, no accidents, nothing.

On leash, Billy is a dream, walking nicely solo or alongside another dog. He might pull a little if he catches an exciting scent or spots someone approaching, but he settles right back down with some gentle guidance. New people occasionally get an initial bark out of him, but he warms up quickly.

He already knows his basic commands and picks things up fast — he genuinely lives for making his people proud. The one thing Billy struggles with is being left alone; he'll bark for the first 5-10 minutes and then settle, and he does even better with a fellow dog for company. That's why his ideal home has people around most of the time, plus a relaxed dog sibling to play hard with for five minutes and then nap the rest of the day away with (his energy is very much "burst then recharge").

A fenced yard would be the icing on the cake, giving him plenty of room for his signature "sport." He's not food or toy possessive, isn't fearful of anything, and has been won over to car rides now that they mean fun adventures.

But honestly? Ask his foster family and they'll tell you his best feature is his smile. It says everything about who he is: warm, soft-hearted, and just plain happy to be here — especially if "here" is wherever you are.
