Save a Life.

Be a Foster.

Fostering is one of the most important roles at our rescue. It is a very important job that is very selfless but SO rewarding. Without a physical shelter, we rely on amazing volunteer foster families to save dogs in need!

Second Chance provides everything you need - food, bed, toys, leash, collar, crate, vet care etc.

You just provide the love and a safe temporary home.

Being a Foster

Fosters preferably will live within Grey or Bruce counties, the GTA or London Middlesex but we’ll consider fosters from other parts of Ontario. We currently have partner vet clinics located in Owen Sound, Angus, Toronto, Strathroy and Mississauga and fosters will be expected to transport their dogs to these clinics for medical care. In cases where fosters have a sincere commitment, exceptions may be considered.

The primary applicant must be a minimum of 21 years of age.

Foster dogs cannot be left alone for more than 8hrs per day.   While many animals can manage for longer periods of time, it can lead to health complications and behavioural issues.  Exceptions may be made for shift work with the appropriate arrangements for an exercise break.

Families with children are welcome to apply to foster.  Parents are ultimately responsible to ensure their children are ready for the responsibility of having a rescue animal in their home.  In addition, we will provide as many educational resources as possible.

All pets in your household must be spayed/neutered and must be up to date with mandatory vaccinations.
