Buttercup
Buttercup / F / 5Y / 18lbs / Shih Tzu Yorkie mix / Fostered in Owen Sound
Buttercup (aka Butters) has the kind of quiet, sweet disposition that sneaks up on you. She's independent enough to do her own thing, but the moment you sit on the couch, she's right there for cuddles. She's playful with her toys, loves her walks (2 a day, about 3-4 km total), and has the softest brown eyes that will absolutely melt your heart when she wants something. She's not a big barker — instead, she whimpers to let you know what she needs, whether that's a trip outside, some playtime, or that it's officially bedtime (she's a dedicated bed-sleeper).
The details:
House trained with regular outside breaks throughout the day (expect a few accidents during her transition to a new home)
A dream in the car — hops right into the back seat and waits patiently for her seatbelt
Very friendly with new people, good meeting other dogs, and loves playing with the resident house cat
Working on leash manners (she can pull if she spots a dog she wants to meet) and learning to wait/stay — she already sits on command and takes treats so gently
Free roams the house when alone and has done fine for stretches of a couple hours
Not a fan of fireworks, but she settles quickly
A little shy at vet visits, but who isn't?
Buttercup is low-to-medium energy, quiet, gentle, and looking for a home where someone is around during the day to keep her company. She is fine with kids 12 and older. Health note: she has an allergy to chicken.
If you're looking for a calm, affectionate companion with a big personality behind those puppy-dog eyes, Buttercup might just be your girl.
