Ruckus

Ruckus / M / 8Y / Boxer / 80lbs / Fostered in Owen Sound

Ruckus is looking for his forever couch cushion — and hopefully it's next to you, because Ruckus is happiest when he's curled up beside his people. If cuddly had a face, it would be his.

He's affectionate, easygoing, and genuinely loves being included in whatever you're doing — walks, errands, or just hanging out at home, he's happy to come along for the ride (literally, he's a great car passenger too!). He's a tug-of-war champion, and mealtime is basically the best time of the day for him.

His energy is wonderfully balanced — a few fun bursts of zoomies, several cozy naps, and full nights of sleep. He's calm around the house but always up for a game.

He's potty trained, walks well on leash, and thrives on routine. He'll even let you know when he needs to go out (sometimes by bringing you your own shoe — his little way of saying "let's go!"). He's a social butterfly with people — quick to make new friends, especially if a treat is involved!

While in foster care, Ruckus received some important veterinary care. He had a dental procedure that included removing 21 teeth along with several small oral masses, and he's all healed up and feeling much better for it! He's also been diagnosed with bilateral cruciate disease in his hind legs. After a specialist consultation, surgery isn't recommended for him — instead, he's managing well on daily meloxicam and gabapentin as needed and is getting around comfortably.

Ruckus can be reactive to other dogs on leash, but he's made great progress with training, treats, redirection, and a front-clip harness. He's actively working on refocusing and recall, and he continues to improve every day.

Ruckus is looking for a calm, patient household with people around for much of the day. He does best with consistency, companionship, and a quieter environment to keep building his confidence. He's great with kids and would love a home without cats. He is good with other dogs with slow introductions.
