Ruby
Ruby / F / 3Y / 10lbs / Chihuahua terrier mix / Fostered in Owen Sound
Ruby is the definition of a perfect companion dog—calm, laid-back, and content with life's simple pleasures. She loves following her favourite person everywhere, curling up for cuddles, going on walks and basking in the sun. This devoted girl will search for you if you leave her sight and sleeps peacefully through the night. She's quiet, well-mannered (has only barked once indoors!), and happiest just being near you. Ruby is hard of hearing, which means thunderstorms, fireworks, and loud noises don't faze her! She responds to vibrations and visual cues. Because of this, she cannot be off leash unless in a securely fenced in area. She does receive ear drops, which will need to continue lifelong. Ruby needs positive reinforcement training only—she's sensitive and will cower if she thinks she's done something wrong. She does very well in the car. She also loves to pull laundry out of the basket.
Ruby is crate trained, is doing well with house training with frequent trips outside, has excellent leash manners. She has been left alone for up to 5 hours with no issues and hasn't shown any guarding behaviours. She is good with other dogs and cats. Ruby is shy initially when meeting new people but warms up quickly. After just two visits with someone, she's comfortable enough to relax and settle in. If someone crouches and extends a hand, she may approach for a sniff.
Her ideal home is a calm, patient guardian who wants a devoted companion, a fenced yard for safe outdoor time, and no kids under 12. She would love someone who is home option to give her plenty of cuddles.
