Martha
Martha / F / 10Y / 10lbs / Terrier mix / Fostered in Owen Sound
Martha is a low-energy, cuddly, and brave little girl who is happiest when she's right beside her favourite person — whether that's curled up on the couch or snoozing next to you on a lawn chair in the sunshine. She even has a sweet morning routine she'd love to share with her forever family: waking up and snuggling on the couch while her person enjoys their morning coffee.
Martha came to us in rough shape. She had all her remaining teeth removed (they were badly infected and causing her real pain), and she had multiple mammary masses that have since been surgically removed — and she has been given the all clear! She has also been spayed, and her previously itchy, flaky skin is looking so much better. This girl has been through a lot, and she has come out the other side ready to enjoy every quiet, cozy moment life has to offer.
House trained: Yes!
Car travel: She's a wonderful traveller
Leash manners: Great! She enjoys slow, relaxed walks and doesn't react to dogs or people she meets
With dogs, cats & kids: Very good with all!
Meeting new people: She wants to say hello — calm and laid-back
Energy level: Low
Fears: Thunderstorms
Martha goes outside 4–5 times a day plus two walks (usually 30–60 minutes each). She's happy to take her time in the yard — she's a thoughtful girl who likes to do things at her own pace! She can be left alone for up to 3 hours and settles into her bed in the living room without trouble.
Martha would absolutely thrive with a senior or someone who is home often and loves slow walks and quiet companionship. She doesn't need a busy household — she needs her person. Someone who will keep up that morning couch cuddle routine and let her be the centre of their world.
