Hannah
Hannah / F / 9Y / 13lbs / Maltese mix / Fostered in Toronto
Hannah is absolutely obsessed with her people. She's super cuddly, wants nothing more than to be glued to your side, and will follow you everywhere with those adoring eyes. She's got medium-low energy, loves her walks (especially the long ones that tire her out), and is surprisingly well-behaved when left alone—quiet, calm, and content to nap in her dog-proofed space. She's food-motivated, smart, and has made incredible progress with her confidence. This girl has come so far from the anxious pup who used to freeze constantly outside—now she's tackling full walks like a champ!
Oh, and she's hilarious. Hannah does spectacularly silly things like launching herself off furniture from unreasonable heights, requiring you to constantly save her from her own poor decisions. She also has this weird habit of rubbing her face all over your furniture. It's strange. It's endearing. It's Hannah.
Hannah is a work in progress, and she needs an owner who gets that. She's nervous around new people, groups, and busy environments—though she warms up quickly with treats and patience. She's quite reactive to other dogs on leash (improving with distance and treats) and can be jealous when other dogs try to steal your attention. She's not a fan of crowds, and honestly, she'd prefer to be your one and only.
Potty training needs work—she doesn't signal much and loves peeing on soft things (bye-bye rugs, at least temporarily). A yard would be ideal, but with patience, lots of outdoor time, and maybe some reusable pee pads, you can make it work. She can't handle being crated alone (she will scream), but does fine in a dog-proofed room. Thankfully, she's not super vocal for a small dog—but when she goes off, you'll know it.
Hannah's Dream Home:
A quieter household—suburbs or a less busy area—where she can be the center of attention. A yard would be a bonus. An owner who loves cuddles, is patient with potty training, and is committed to continuing her confidence-building journey. Someone who understands that she has tons of potential and just needs time, consistency, and love to bloom. A solo-dog home would be ideal, though she could tolerate another very patient dog with clear boundaries. She hasn't been cat tested but would likely be fine. Kids 14+.
Hannah did have a dental cleaning with a few extractions and she also had multiple mammary masses which were removed and biopsied (all benign!).
