Murphy
Murphy / M / 2.5Y / 32lbs / Labradoodle / Fostered in Owen Sound
Murphy is a sweet, gentle soul who's ready to become someone's devoted shadow. This lovable boy has mastered the art of being the ideal family dog—he's crate trained, potty trained, and has impeccable house manners. He's proven himself trustworthy with free roam of the home and sleeps peacefully through the night.
Murphy is the definition of a velcro dog in the best way possible. He'll follow you from room to room, eager to be part of whatever you're doing. This snuggle champion has a unique talent for becoming the "little spoon" and won't hesitate to claim his spot right on top of you for maximum cuddle time. Watch for his adorable "frog legs" when he stretches out—it's guaranteed to make you smile!
His Favorite Things:
- TENNIS BALLS!!! (yes, all caps and exclamation marks necessary)
- Squeaky toys that bring out his playful side
- Being your constant companion and shadow
- Cozy cuddle sessions where he can be as close as possible
- Leisurely walks to explore the neighbourhood
Murphy would thrive in a home where he can be someone's loyal companion. His ideal family would include:
- Daily walks to keep him happy and healthy
- A fenced yard where he can chase tennis balls to his heart's content (bonus points!)
- Preferably another dog friend to play with, or a neighbourhood with doggy pals nearby
- Patient humans who understand he needs a moment to warm up to new people
Murphy is a gentle walker on leash, though he has a soft spot for squirrels and may give a gentle tug when he spots one. He's wonderful with dogs, cats (though he enjoys a playful tease now and then), and kids. While he's initially skittish around new people and quick movements, he warms up quickly once he realizes you're a friend. He's currently working on taking treats more gently and learning that his bone is for sharing, not guarding.
With medium energy and a calm, relaxed demeanor, Murphy is content with morning, midday, and evening walks plus regular potty breaks. He may whine briefly when you leave but settles quickly—he's proven he can handle 2-3 hours alone like a champ.
Murphy has been described as "the perfect dog" by his foster family, and it's easy to see why. Besides his initial shyness, this sweet boy checks every box. He's been an incredible first foster dog, showing that sometimes the best companions are the ones who just want to be by your side.
