Lemon
Lemon / F / 1Y / 9lbs / Terrier mix / Fostered in Owen Sound
If sweetness had a face, it would be hers. Lemon is a cuddly, quiet, lovable little girl whose favourite place in the world is curled up in your lap. She adores attention from her people, and she'll happily let you carry her around (especially down the stairs, which she's not a fan of walking on her own!).
Sweet, snuggly and gentle, with a low energy level. Lemon is happiest with a short daily walk around the neighbourhood and some playtime in the yard with her doggie friends, then back to cuddles. She has one quirky talent: she loves to chase the water from the hose while her foster mom tries to water the flowers!
She loves other dogs and does best with a doggie sibling. She's also great with kids who are dog savvy and know to approach slowly and quietly. She hasn't been tested with cats. Lemon can be timid if approached quickly. Give her time and space to meet you on her terms, and she'll warm right up.
- Potty trained, with multiple trips outside daily, especially after meals and first thing in the morning. She sleeps all night with no accidents.
- Knows sit and come, and is progressing well for a girl who hasn't had much training.
- Good on leash. She's a bit of a zigzag walker who follows all the smells but doesn't pull. She's more confident with a walking buddy.
- Doesn't guard anything.
- Better in the car with a doggie travel buddy.
Lemon is a work in progress when it comes to confidence. She has separation anxiety and doesn't like being left alone, and loud, sudden noises or quick movements can startle her. She's had a few accidents when scared or left alone, and she seems to take well to pee pads placed by doorways. She also gets nervous on big flights of stairs. She'll go up just fine but will whine until someone helps her down. With time, patience and a consistent routine, we're confident her confidence will keep growing.
Her ideal home:
- Someone home most of the time, so she's never left alone for long
- A doggie sibling to play with and learn from
- A fenced yard to run and play in
- Patient adopters who will keep working on her anxiety and training
